 Since the reform and opening up, especially over 13 years since the establishment of the district, Baoan people have taken the opportunity to make outstanding achievements in social and economic construction through union, development, innovation and practice, today it has become a modern district with supporting industries, complete services, perfect infrastructure, convenient communication and sound legal system. In 2005, Baoan accomplished a GDP of RMB 116.345 billion, a gross over-scale industry output value of RMB 399.755 billion, a total value of social consumable retail of RMB 28.499 billion, a fixed assets investment of RMB 28.707 billion, a general local budget income of RMB 37.126 billion, a total export of USD 42.902 billion and an actual foreign direct investment of USD 0.846 billion. It is expected that it will accomplish a GDP of RMB 147.5 billion, a gross over-scale industry output value of RMB 500 billion, a total export of USD 50 billion and an actual foreign direct investment of USD 90 billion in 2006.
